White Sox offense explodes in middle innings
Alex Benintendi’s pivotal three-run double in the fifth inning provided the offensive surge that allowed the Chicago White Sox to secure a 10-3 victory over the Texas Rangers at Globe Life Field on Tuesday. The win improved the White Sox record to 53-46, while the Rangers fell to .500 at 50-50.
The game began with Chicago taking an early 1-0 lead in the top of the first when Matt Olson homered to right center. The White Sox extended their advantage to 2-0 in the second inning when Adolis García singled to right, allowing Evan Carter to score.
Texas answered in the bottom of the third inning when Josh Smith doubled to left, driving in Nathaniel Lowe to make the score 2-1. However, the Rangers’ lead was short-lived. In the top of the fifth, García singled to center to tie the game at 2-2.
The momentum shifted decisively moments later when Benintendi doubled to right field, scoring García, Smith, and Olson to give Chicago a 5-2 advantage.
Rangers hold on briefly before late surge
The Rangers managed to keep the game within reach in the seventh inning when Josh Smith homered to left center, cutting the deficit to 5-3. The White Sox offense, however, did not slow down. In the ninth inning, they unleashed a five-run barrage that effectively ended the contest.
The inning began with a double by Smith to left that scored García. Acuña followed with a single to right, bringing Smith and Acuña home to make it 8-3. Grichuk then tripled to left, scoring Acuña for a 9-3 lead. The scoring was capped by a double from B. Montgomery to left, which brought Grichuk home for the final run.
