A Decisive First Half
The No. 6 Texas Longhorns established a commanding lead early, outscoring the Fairleigh Dickinson Knights 30-8 in the first quarter. Madison Booker emerged as the primary offensive force, finishing with 24 points and five assists for the home team. The Longhorns extended their advantage to 44-24 by the end of the second quarter, setting the tone for the remainder of the contest at Moody Center in Austin. Breya Cunningham contributed significantly on the glass, recording 13 rebounds to support the team's defensive efforts.
Knight Resilience
Despite falling behind by 20 points at the half, the Fairleigh Dickinson Knights managed to limit the damage in the second half. Reese Downey led the visitors with 17 points, while Ophir Weintraub provided five assists. Ane Valle added seven rebounds for the Knights. The visiting team scored 15 points in the third quarter and 23 in the fourth, but the deficit was too large to overcome. Texas allowed the Knights to close the gap to 65-85, but the earlier surge proved insurmountable.
