Isaac Paredes delivered the pivotal blow in the 10th inning, hitting a two-run double to left field that propelled the Houston Astros past the San Francisco Giants 6-3 at Oracle Park on Tuesday. The hit scored both Jeremy Peña and Kyle Tucker, turning a tied 3-3 game into a decisive Houston lead.
Peña had reached base earlier in the frame with a single to left, advancing to second before Paredes’s drive cleared the bases.
The game remained deadlocked through nine innings, with the Giants tying the contest in the ninth when Mike Yastrzemski singled to right, allowing Jake McGee to score. Yastrzemski stretched for second but was thrown out. The Astros had taken a 2-1 lead in the fifth on a single home run by Yordan Alvarez, who launched a 382-foot shot to right field.
The Giants answered in the seventh when LaMonte Wade Jr. homered to left (402 feet) and Wilmer Difo homered to right-center (407 feet), erasing Houston’s advantage.
Pitching Performances
Houston’s Hayden Wesneski worked seven innings, allowing five hits and three earned runs while striking out four batters. He was supported by Steven Okert, who pitched a scoreless inning with one strikeout, and Josh Hader, who secured the win by retiring the side in order over two innings with two strikeouts. Hader improved his record to 4-1.
