Dare Ogunbowale is returning to the Houston Texans’ 53-man roster before Week 4, shortly after his stint with the Las Vegas Raiders. The move gives Houston a fourth running back as the team prepares to host the Dallas Cowboys.
Ogunbowale played for the Texans from 2022 through 2025 and appeared in more than 60 games. His primary duties were on special teams, while his offensive totals included 91 carries, 295 yards and three touchdowns. He was a Houston captain last season and logged over 1,000 special-teams snaps across his four seasons with the club.
David Montgomery and Woody Marks are expected to handle most of the backfield’s offensive work. British Brooks may also stay ahead of Ogunbowale on the weekly depth chart, so the veteran’s immediate offensive impact is not expected to be significant. The reason for the roster move was not reported.
Houston may be preparing for a possible injury, or seeking an experienced reserve who can help on special teams. Sports Illustrated also cited Ogunbowale’s leadership experience and noted that coach DeMeco Ryans has repeatedly praised him.
