The Dallas Cowboys are preparing for their visit to the Texans with two defensive players facing extended absences. Jonathan Bullard is expected to miss three to five weeks because of a calf problem, while safety Jalen Thompson could be sidelined for a minimum of four weeks after a hamstring injury. Both injuries occurred during Dallas’ first three regular-season games.
Bullard had been unavailable for much of training camp after an earlier injury. Thompson may be placed on injured reserve under the designation that permits a return, joining safety P.J. Locke, according to the report.
The Cowboys also do not expect Cobie Durant to travel to South Texas while he recovers from a hamstring injury. Malik Hooker, who broke his forearm in the opener, might require more time before coming back. DeMarvion Overshown, absent for the last two games with a hamstring issue, may begin practicing again this week.
Cornerback Shavon Revel also sustained knee and ankle injuries in the loss to Baltimore in Rio. Head coach Brian Schottenheimer said Tuesday that Revel was making progress and might be back at practice this week, leaving open the possibility of playing Houston in Week 4.
Dallas has worked out several players, including former Cowboys safety Juanyeh Thomas, as first-year defensive coordinator Christian Parker manages a reduced safety group. The Texans remain winless.
