Lewisville ISD has again been named a CTE District of Distinction by the Career and Technical Association of Texas, the district announced Monday. It is the third year in a row the district has received the designation.
The association's program recognizes Texas school districts for career and technical education, judging them on criteria that include industry-based certifications earned by students, career pathways and partnerships with industry, according to the district's announcement.
Kristin Petrunin, LISD's director of career and technical education and college, career and military readiness, said the designation puts the district in the top 8% of CTE programs in Texas for the 2026-27 school year. She said only about 2% of programs statewide have held the distinction three years running.
Petrunin credited the range of programs the district offers, students' results on industry certification exams and what she described as fiscally responsible management of the programs, along with support from teachers, counselors, campus leaders and local businesses.
"We are proud of the opportunities our programs provide students to build skills, earn credentials and prepare for their future after high school," Superintendent Rapp said in the release.
