Eovaldi's Sharp Outing
Nathan Eovaldi delivered a masterful performance on the mound, allowing zero earned runs over seven innings of work. The Texas Rangers starter struck out nine batters while issuing just one walk. His efficiency was the cornerstone of the victory, as he kept the Blue Jays' offense in check for the majority of the contest. Eovaldi earned the win, improving his record to 8-7. He was supported by a bullpen that closed the door in the final frames. Robby Ahlstrom pitched 0.1 innings, followed by Jakob Junis who threw 0.2 innings. Jacob Latz secured the save, his 16th of the season, by retiring the side in order in the ninth.
Rangers Strike Early
Texas built its lead in the first inning through a sequence of timely hits. Michael Nimmo started the action with a double to right field, driving in Langford to make it 1-0. Jung advanced to third base during the play. Foscue then singled to left, scoring Jung to extend the lead to 2-0. Nimmo moved to third, and Duran followed with a single to right, bringing Nimmo home for a 3-0 advantage. Foscue remained on second base after the play. The Rangers added insurance in the third inning when Foscue homered to left field, a 389-foot shot that also scored Burger, pushing the score to 5-0.
