The Houston Texans worked out linebacker Kenneth Murray on Tuesday but did not sign him. The evaluation came after Henry To'oTo'o sustained a shoulder injury, and Houston promoted Jamal Hill from its practice squad to the active roster.
To'oTo'o is on injured reserve and is projected to miss several months. Murray, 27, could provide practice-squad depth and potentially be elevated for games, though no agreement was reported.
The Los Angeles Chargers selected Murray 23rd overall in 2020 after he earned All-American recognition at Oklahoma. He joined the Tennessee Titans in 2024 and led the club in tackles before the Dallas Cowboys acquired him from Tennessee during the next offseason for two draft picks.
Murray opened every game for Dallas last season. He totaled 81 tackles, made four stops behind the line of scrimmage, broke up two passes, recorded one sack and recovered one fumble, finishing second on the Cowboys in tackles. He has since worked out for the Miami Dolphins and New York Giants.
Houston is scheduled to face the Cincinnati Bengals Sunday at Reliant Stadium, with kickoff set for noon on CBS.
