Lewisville ISD trustees will hold a public hearing Monday on improvement plans the state requires for three of the district's Lewisville campuses, one of them now under a two-year turnaround plan after four straight years of low ratings.

The hearing is part of the board's work session, which starts at 6 p.m. Monday, Nov. 2. The agenda sets aside a public comment period for the plans right after the hearing. Trustees are scheduled to vote on them Nov. 9, and the district must send them to the Texas Education Agency by Nov. 20, according to the district's presentation.

Southridge Elementary

Southridge Elementary, at 495 W. Corporate Drive, has to write a turnaround plan because of its state accountability ratings, district documents say. The campus received an F in 2023 and a D in each year from 2024 through 2026, which the district's presentation counts as two "unacceptable" ratings. The same presentation lists two such ratings as the state's trigger for a turnaround plan.

The plan sets 18 to 20 milestones spread over two school years. In the first year, campus leaders are to set up a common schedule and process for teacher teams, regular classroom observations with feedback, and routines for using student data to plan small-group lessons.

The second year adds a reworked master schedule meant to protect special education math services and training on new reading and language arts materials.

The principal held a community meeting on Aug. 25, and a draft was posted on the district website on Oct. 2. Turnaround plans need trustee approval before the state will review them.

Rockbrook and Huffines

Rockbrook Elementary, on Rockbrook Drive, and Huffines Middle School, on North Valley Parkway, need targeted improvement plans because of federal accountability rules. Both were named in 2025 for comprehensive support, a federal label for Title I schools in the bottom 5% of the state on the state's Closing the Gaps measure.

The district says both showed progress in 2026 and are on track to leave the list in 2027 if they meet growth targets. Rockbrook's overall rating rose from an F to a C, with its overall score climbing from 59 to 78 and its Closing the Gaps score from 51 to 84.

Both campus plans center on daily use of high-quality teaching materials, weekly teacher planning sessions and coaching after classroom visits. Copies of all three plans are posted on the district's school improvement page.

Also Monday

Trustees will also hear updates on the district's roughly 900-person substitute staff, now in its second year under the human resources department; the move to run student transportation in-house; and the district's annual facilities assessment.

A proposed short-term license would let an outside party park on about 3.5 acres of the former Purnell transportation center in Lewisville through Jan. 31, 2027, bringing in monthly revenue while the district decides what to do with the site.
