The Houston Texans are adjusting their strategy as they prepare for the 2026 NFL season, particularly after wide receiver Jayden Higgins was placed on injured reserve due to a torn ACL.

Higgins was anticipated to be a crucial part of the team as their No. 2 receiver, and his absence has led the Texans to seek additional support at the position, especially with fellow receivers Jaylin Noel and Tank Dell also facing injuries.

In light of these developments, the Texans are reportedly considering veteran wide receivers Josh Reynolds and Zay Jones. Reynolds, who previously played for the Detroit Lions, had 40 receptions for 608 yards and five touchdowns in 2023. Zay Jones, formerly with the Jacksonville Jaguars, recorded 82 catches for 823 yards and five touchdowns during the 2022 season.

While both players have encountered challenges in recent years, the Texans are evaluating them as potential additions to strengthen their receiving options. According to ESPN's Jeremy Fowler, the team is conducting workouts for free agent receivers, with Reynolds and Jones being among the candidates as they address their current roster issues.

With Higgins sidelined for the season, the Texans may rely on Xavier Hutchinson, Noel, and Dell to support star receiver Nico Collins. The team's interest in Reynolds and Jones indicates a focus on acquiring experienced players to enhance their offensive capabilities, although further details regarding potential signings have not been disclosed.
