Bazzana’s Historic Offensive Display
Travis Bazzana delivered a career-defining performance for the Cleveland Guardians, launching three home runs to lead his team to an 8-1 victory over the Houston Astros on Saturday at Daikin Park. The away team’s offense was powered by Bazzana’s explosive hitting, which included a solo shot in the first inning and a massive three-run blast in the fifth inning that effectively sealed the game.
Bazzana opened the scoring in the top of the first inning with a 382-foot home run to right center, giving Cleveland a 1-0 lead. The Guardians extended their advantage in the third inning when Manny Manzardo homered to right center, measuring 388 feet, with Bazzana scoring from first base to make it 3-1. Houston responded briefly in the bottom of the second inning when Diaz singled to right field, allowing Paredes to score and tying the game at 1-1, with Altuve reaching third base.
Guardians Pull Away in the Fifth
The turning point of the contest arrived in the fifth inning when Bazzana connected again, this time driving a ball 406 feet to right center. This three-run home run included runs from Kwan and Bailey, pushing the score to 6-1 in favor of Cleveland. The Astros’ pitching staff struggled to contain the Guardians’ bats, particularly after Spencer Arrighetti took the loss, allowing six runs on six hits over six innings.
Cleveland added insurance runs in the seventh inning. Bazzana singled to right field, allowing Bailey to score, making it 7-1. Shortly after, Manzardo singled to right, scoring Halpin to extend the lead to 8-1. Bazzana reached second base on the play, completing his three-hit, three-home-run day.
