Topgolf has announced a partnership with the World Series of Golf (WSG) to host the first-ever World Series of Golf qualifying tournament. The event will take place simultaneously at 30 Topgolf venues across 11 states, including locations in Alabama, Arizona, Colorado, Idaho, Kansas, Maryland, Minnesota, New Jersey, New Mexico, North Carolina, and Tennessee.
This initiative marks the first time in the 23-year history of the World Series of Golf that satellite tournaments will be held at Topgolf locations. The competition utilizes a poker-style format where players compete hole-by-hole using betting mechanics integrated into the WSG mobile application. Participants will play nine holes on Topgolf’s virtual golf mode during the qualifying events.
The qualifying tournaments are scheduled for September 1 and 2. On the first night, players compete in groups of four within their assigned bays, with each bay producing one winner. From a field of 128 players, 32 winners will be regrouped, and the final eight winners will advance to the second night on September 2 to determine a single venue champion.
The top player at each of the 30 venues will be invited to compete in the National Qualifying Championship at Topgolf Scottsdale on October 2. The winner of that national event will earn a designated competitor seat in the World Series of Golf Championship, with a top prize of up to $250,000.
Other players may also qualify for the championship through the WSG Satellite tournament events.
Highlights from the qualifying events and the National Championship will be broadcast across Topgolf Media Networks. Registration for the qualifying tournaments costs $86.49, which includes a WSG app subscription and a reserved bay at the participant’s local Topgolf.
