Topgolf, headquartered in Dallas, was granted a patent for technology designed to help targets at its venues identify golf balls equipped with radio-frequency identification tags. The patent, titled a Galton configuration in golf ball receiving apparatus and systems, serves as a continuation of an earlier filing. It lists four inventors based in North Texas: Brian David Burdette of McKinney, Gabriel Heath Denk of Wylie, Justin Dean Pendleton of The Colony, and Michael Ryan Petri of Carrollton.
Texas Instruments Incorporated, located in Dallas, led local assignees with 10 patents granted. Toyota Motor Engineering Manufacturing North America Inc. in Plano followed with six patents. Other notable assignees included Samsung Electronics Co. Ltd., which received four patents, and Capital One Services LLC, Halliburton Energy Services Inc., and Micron Technology Inc., each with three.

The patent classifications for the week showed 35 patents in the Physics category and 29 in Electricity. Human Necessities accounted for five patents, while Performing Operations and Transporting accounted for six.
