Burger Drives In Runs
Jake Burger provided the offensive spark for the Texas Rangers, collecting two hits and driving in three runs to help secure a 5-4 victory over the Seattle Mariners. The Rangers, playing as the home team at Globe Life Field, overcame an early deficit to take control of the series opener before a crowd of 33,478 on Saturday.
Burger’s first major contribution came in the fourth inning when he launched a 362-foot home run to right field. The blast extended the Rangers’ lead to 3-1, adding two runs to the board alongside a run from Duran. He added to his impact in the sixth inning with a single to center field that brought Nimmo home, making the score 4-3.
Burger advanced to second base on a sacrifice bunt by Lopez, who later crossed the plate to push the margin to 5-3.
Mariners Rally Late
The Mariners (51-53) started strong, taking a 1-0 lead in the first inning on a Langford home run to left field, measuring 384 feet. Seattle tied the game 1-1 in the second inning when We. Wilson singled to right, allowing Naylor to score while Young moved to third.
Seattle tied the game again in the fifth inning. Canzone doubled to center field, scoring both Arozarena and Emerson to make it 3-3. The Mariners took the lead in the sixth inning when Burger’s single allowed Nimmo to score, followed by Lopez’s sacrifice bunt that scored Carter, putting Seattle ahead 5-3.
