Deciding run
The Texas Rangers secured an 8-3 victory over the Los Angeles Angels on Wednesday, July 8, at Globe Life Field, with the decisive moment arriving in the bottom of the eighth inning. Corey Osuna launched a 364-foot home run to right field, driving in three runs to break a 3-3 tie and give Arlington a lead they would not relinquish.
The Rangers (46-45) capitalized on that surge to pull away, while the Angels (36-56) struggled to generate offense against the Texas pitching staff after tying the game earlier in the seventh.
Early scoring
Texas struck first in the top of the first inning. Salvador Soler doubled to left field, allowing Evan Carter to score for a 1-0 Rangers advantage. In the same frame, Josh Lowe singled to center field, bringing Soler home to extend the lead to 2-0.
The Angels responded in the second inning. Adolis Garcia singled to left field, prompting Luis Robert Jr. and Jose Ramirez to score, tying the game at 2-2. Garcia advanced to second base on the play.
Middle innings
The score remained deadlocked until the seventh inning. The Rangers took a 3-2 lead when Josh Smith scored on a single by Ezequiel Duran to left field. However, Los Angeles quickly answered in the bottom of the seventh. Taylor Ward homered to left field, measuring 387 feet, to tie the contest at 3-3.
