Nico Collins did not participate in the reporter-accessible portion of Houston’s Wednesday practice, his third consecutive missed session. The Texans receiver suffered a Grade 1 hamstring strain before the team’s Week 2 matchup with Cincinnati and did not play in that game. His status for the Indianapolis Colts game remains unsettled, and he could return in Week 4 against the Dallas Cowboys instead.
Dalton Schultz, Trent Brown, Ed Ingram and Jadeveon Clowney were also absent from the practice segment available to media members. The source gave no additional information about their conditions.
Houston is 0-2 and could again give larger responsibilities to Xavier Hutchinson, Kayshon Boutte and Jaylin Noel if Collins is unavailable. The three combined for seven catches against Cincinnati, while no Houston wide receiver had more than three receptions or 40 yards. Schultz led the Texans with 12 catches for 140 yards.
Offensive coordinator Nick Caley would need to plan for another game without the team’s top wideout.
