Colleyville Heritage comeback ends The Colony’s unbeaten start

Colleyville Heritage scored twice in the final seven minutes to win 24–17; The Colony visits Community next.

The Colony’s unbeaten start ended October 2 with a 24–17 home loss to Colleyville Heritage. The Cougars led 7–3 at halftime and extended the lead to 10–3 in the third quarter before the Panthers took control.

A 27-yard touchdown pass tied the game. Colleyville Heritage then returned a deflected pass 64 yards for a touchdown with 6:34 remaining, taking a 17–10 lead. A four-yard touchdown run with 1:59 left provided the cushion the Panthers needed, according to Jim McCurdy’s Dallas Morning News game report.

The result left The Colony 4–1 overall and 0–1 in District 3-5A Division II. Colleyville Heritage improved to 3–3 and 1–1.

The Colony is scheduled to visit Community on October 9, according to Community ISD’s season schedule.
