A Late Run Seals It
The Kansas Jayhawks survived a tense contest against the visiting Baylor Bears, edging out a 25-24 victory on Saturday at David Booth Kansas Memorial Stadium. The outcome was decided in the final moments when Kansas quarterback Isaiah Marshall executed a critical 15-yard run late in the fourth quarter.
That score, combined with a failed two-point pass conversion attempt, provided the decisive three-point margin needed to overcome a Baylor defense that had held steady through most of the game.
Scoring Breakdown
The game began as a balanced offensive display. Kansas opened the scoring in the first period with a 22-yard touchdown pass from Marshall to Carson Bruhn, followed by a kickoff return touchdown by Dawson Pendergrass for Baylor to make it 7-7.
The third period saw Baylor surge ahead, fueled by a 42-yard interception return for a touchdown by Devon Jordan and an 8-yard scoring strike from DJ Lagway to Jayden McGowan. At that point, the Bears led 21-10.
Kansas mounted a comeback in the fourth quarter. Marshall connected with Nik McMillan on a 34-yard pass, though a failed two-point run kept the deficit at seven. Baylor answered with a 42-yard field goal by Rhett Armstrong to push the lead to 24-19.
However, Kansas refused to fold. Martin Connington kicked a 40-yard field goal earlier in the quarter to make it 14-10, and later added a 42-yarder to close the gap. The final drive culminated in Marshall’s rushing touchdown, which proved enough as Baylor could not respond.
