Aranda's 10th-Inning Blast Seals Rays' 6-3 Victory Over Rangers

Deciding Blow in the 10th

The game turned on a single swing in the top of the 10th inning. With the score tied 3-3, Yandy Diaz and Jose Mateo came home on a three-run home run to right center field by Aranda. The blast, traveled 409 feet, gave the away team a 6-3 lead that the home staff could not overcome.

This was the fifth home run of the game and the final run scored by either side.

Early Offense

The Rays established an early lead in the first inning when Caminero hit a solo home run to center field. The ball traveled 425 feet, putting the visitors up 1-0. The Rangers remained scoreless until the sixth inning, when Pederson hit a solo home run to right field for a 409-foot shot.

That run cut the Rays' lead to 2-1. The Rangers had not scored before that point, and the Rays added no runs between the first and sixth innings.

Mid-Inning Exchanges

The Rangers pulled within one run in the eighth inning. Hicks singled to left field, allowing Aranda to score and moving Caminero to third. The score became 3-1.

Shortly after, Carter hit a solo home run to right center field, traveling 421 feet, to make it 3-2. The Rays responded immediately with a double to center field by Foscue, which allowed Cauley to score, tying the game at 3-3. No further runs were scored until the 10th inning.

Pitching Performance

Tyler Wells earned the win for the Rays, pitching two innings without allowing a hit, an earned run, or a walk while striking out three batters. Jacob Latz took the loss for the Rangers. He pitched 1.2 innings, allowing one hit and two earned runs while walking two batters and striking out one.

Drew Rasmussen started for the Rays, pitching seven innings with three hits, one earned run, no walks, and seven strikeouts. Jacob deGrom started for the Rangers, pitching six innings with four hits, two earned runs, one walk, and seven strikeouts. The attendance at Globe Life Field was 31,657.

The Rays improved to 85-57, while the Rangers fell to 70-73.
