Urena Controls the Game
Walbert Urena delivered a masterclass in efficiency, pitching six innings of scoreless baseball to lead the Los Angeles Angels to a 7-0 victory over the Texas Rangers on Friday at Angel Stadium. Urena allowed just two hits and walked two batters while striking out five, earning the win to improve his record to 8-8.
He was supported by a bullpen that kept the Rangers off the scoreboard for the remaining three innings, with Jose Fermin, Tayler Saucedo, and Sammy Peralta each retiring the side in order or limiting damage to ensure the shutout.
Offense Explodes in Fifth
The Angels broke the game open with a five-run fifth inning that capitalized on Rangers pitching struggles. After Frazier singled to left to score Guzman in the second, and Trout’s single in the same frame brought home Frazier, the Rangers’ starters struggled to contain Los Angeles’s top hitters.
In the fifth, Guzman reached on an infield single to pitch, allowing Trout to score. Lowe followed with a double to right, driving in Grissom and Schanuel to extend the lead to 5-0. The inning continued with Siri grounding into a fielder’s choice that still allowed Guzman to cross the plate, making it 6-0.
Siri later singled to right in the seventh, scoring Ballesteros for the final run of the game.
