The Chicago White Sox dismantled the Texas Rangers 10-4 on Wednesday, Aug. 26, at Rate Field, as a late surge of home runs sealed the victory. Doyle and Peters each launched long balls to drive in multiple runs, while the Rangers' pitching staff struggled to contain the offense throughout the game.
Chicago took an early lead in the bottom of the second inning. B. Montgomery doubled to right, allowing Meidroth to score. Shortly after, Doyle singled to left, scoring Montgomery before Doyle was out stretching at second.
The Rangers answered in the top of the third when Pederson hit a 394-foot home run to right center, bringing in Freeman to tie the game 2-2. However, the balance shifted in the fourth inning as Vargas reached on an infield single, scoring Peters, followed by Antonacci's single to left that brought in Vargas.
The White Sox extended their lead in the fifth inning when Peters hit a 362-foot home run to right, driving in Rogers. The offense continued to roll in the sixth, with Antonacci's single to left scoring Vargas. The decisive blow came in the bottom of the sixth when Doyle connected on a 393-foot home run to left center.
This drive cleared the bases, scoring Murakami and B. Montgomery to make the score 10-2. The Rangers managed to score two more runs in the top of the seventh, with Duran's single to center bringing in Langford and Nimmo, but it was not enough to overcome the deficit.
