Brent Rooker delivered the defining offensive performance of the game, hitting his first career multi-home run outing to help the Athletics secure a 9-2 win over the Texas Rangers. The victory came on Wednesday, September 2, at Globe Life Field in Arlington, Texas, with an attendance of 23,801.

Rooker’s power display began in the third inning when he launched a ball to right center for a two-run homer that tied the game at 2-2. He added another long ball in the fourth inning, driving a pitch to right field for his second home run of the day.

That blast extended Oakland’s lead to 5-2 and proved to be a pivotal moment in the contest.

Rangers Take Early Lead Before Collapse

The Texas Rangers opened their scoring in the first inning when Corey Seager homered to left field, giving them a 1-0 advantage. They took a 2-0 lead in the second inning on a solo home run by Evan Carter to center field.

However, the Athletics responded immediately in the third with Rooker’s two-run shot, followed by a solo home run from Jackson Chourio to left field that gave Oakland its first 3-2 advantage. The Rangers’ bullpen struggled to contain the Oakland offense, allowing five runs over their final four innings of work.

Additional Runs Extend Lead

The Athletics continued to pile on runs in the fifth inning. A solo home run by Jordan Walker to center field made it 6-2. Later in the same inning, a two-run double by Tyler Wells to left field, scoring another runner, pushed the margin to 8-2.

In the seventh inning, Wells added an RBI double to right field, bringing the final score to 9-2. The Rangers managed only one more hit in the subsequent innings but could not generate any further offense against the Athletics’ pitching staff.

Pitching Decisions and Final Records

Jacob Lopez earned the win for Oakland, pitching six innings while allowing six hits and two earned runs with seven strikeouts. Geoff Hartlieb and Hogan Harris closed out the game, combining for two scoreless innings with one hit allowed and three strikeouts total.

For Texas, Cody Bradford took the loss after giving up five earned runs in four innings. Jordan Montgomery pitched three innings, allowing one run, while Robby Ahlstrom and Ben Peoples each pitched an inning, with Ahlstrom surrendering three runs.

The win improved Oakland’s record to 54-86, while the Rangers fell to 69-71.
