Eovaldi Holds Line Despite Early Pressure
Nathan Eovaldi managed to secure his ninth victory of the season, though the outing required resilience. The Rangers starting pitcher worked five innings, striking out nine batters while allowing three earned runs and six hits. His performance kept Texas in the contest long enough for the offense to break through, ultimately contributing to a 10-4 triumph over the Detroit Tigers on Friday at Globe Life Field.
Tigers Strike First in Second
Detroit took an early lead in the second inning. Díaz launched a home run to left-center field, measuring 414 feet, to give the visitors a 1-0 advantage. The Tigers added two more runs in the same frame. Jung walked, driving in Osuna, and Duran followed with a sacrifice fly to right that brought Lopez home, making the score 3-0. Jung later scored on a double to left field by Duran in the fourth inning, extending Detroit's lead to 5-0 before the Rangers began their comeback.
Rangers Surge in Fifth and Seventh
Texas finally got on the board in the fifth inning when Keith homered to right-center field, cutting the deficit to 5-1. The Rangers quickly erased the rest of the hole. Lee hit a two-run home run to left-center field, putting Texas ahead for the first time at 5-3. Smith added another home run to right field in the same inning, pushing the lead to 6-3.
The Rangers continued their offensive explosion in the seventh. Osuna singled to left, scoring Carter, followed by Lopez’s single to right that brought Díaz home. Smith then reached on an infield single to shortstop, allowing Osuna to score, making it 9-3. The Tigers managed a late run in the eighth when Malgeri singled to center, scoring McKinstry, and Carter later homered to center field to make the final score 10-4.
