Deciding Runs
The Texas Rangers secured an 8-5 victory over the Athletics on Wednesday at Globe Life Field, driven by a five-run performance from Brandon Nimmo. The Rangers extended their advantage in the fifth inning, where Nimmo’s single to right field scored both Ryan Pederson and Seager, while pushing Langford to third base. A subsequent groundout by Duran allowed Langford to cross the plate, and the Athletics added a run in the sixth inning on a sacrifice fly by O'Hoppe that scored Carter. The Rangers continued to pile on in the sixth, with Seager’s sacrifice fly bringing in Díaz, and Nimmo’s single to right field scoring Langford to make it 8-1. The Athletics managed to score two runs in the seventh and eighth innings, but the damage was already done. In the ninth inning, the Athletics scored two more runs on a home run by McNeil, which was the only home run of the game, bringing their final total to five.
