School has been back for two weeks, and The Colony High School's fall calendar is about to get busy in the way that fall calendars do.

The date most families will want is Thursday, Sept. 3, when the varsity football team plays its first home game of the season against Keller Fossil Ridge at TCHS Stadium. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m.

The night after that, the volleyball team hosts Little Elm at the Cougar Activity Center, which makes it a rare week where two neighboring towns meet twice on a school calendar.

Between now and then

According to the school's published activities calendar, this is what is scheduled:

  • Tuesday, Aug. 25. Varsity volleyball at Frisco Emerson, 6:30 p.m.
  • Thursday, Aug. 27. Varsity football at W.W. Samuell, 7 p.m., played at Pleasant Grove Stadium in Dallas. Varsity volleyball also opens play at the Arete Tournament.
  • Saturday, Aug. 29. Varsity volleyball continues at the Arete Tournament.
  • Thursday, Sept. 3. Varsity football hosts Keller Fossil Ridge, 7 p.m., TCHS Stadium.
  • Friday, Sept. 4. Varsity volleyball hosts Little Elm, 5:30 p.m., Cougar Activity Center.

Volleyball has been the busiest team on the calendar by some distance. The Lady Cougars have played most weeks since early August, including tournament weekends at Garland and Glen Rose, while football has had the longer runway into its season.

The practical details

Home football is played at TCHS Stadium. Home volleyball is at the Cougar Activity Center. The school itself is at 4301 Blair Oaks Road, and classes resumed for the year on Aug. 12.

School schedules move, and the times above are the ones the school had posted as of this week. Anyone planning around a specific game should check the school's calendar before driving out, particularly for tournament dates, which often list as all-day entries until brackets are set.

The Colony High School opened in 1986 and enrolls roughly 1,800 students in grades 9 through 12 as part of Lewisville ISD. Its teams play as the Cougars and the Lady Cougars, in black and gold.
