Baylor University has announced that Gao Duanrui will join its women's tennis team for the 2026-27 season. Head coach Joey Scrivano praised Duanrui's dedication, mental toughness, and strong work ethic.
Duanrui, from Tianjin, China, has reached career-high rankings of No. 1,186 in singles and No. 1,435 in doubles on the WTA tour. Throughout her career, she has achieved 52 singles wins, with significant victories at the 2026 M15 Tianjin, as well as the 2025 W15 Luan and Maanshan tournaments.
In doubles, she has made it to the quarterfinals on five occasions, including appearances at the 2026 W15 Tianjin and three different draws at the 2025 W15 Luan, plus another quarterfinal at the 2025 W15 Maanshan.
The Baylor women's tennis team finished the 2025 season ranked No. 34 in the ITA Year-End team rankings, which marked their 27th appearance in the NCAA Tournament and their 19th trip to the second round. The season also included four All-Big 12 selections, three ranked victories, and two players qualifying for the NCAA Singles and Doubles Championships.
