Jake Hummel's groin injury will keep him out of at least four games after the Texans placed the linebacker on injured reserve Saturday. Hummel was hurt during Houston's Week 1 loss to the Bills and has not practiced since the injury.
The roster designation prevents Hummel from returning to the active roster for at least four games. After that point, the Texans can consider whether to bring him back to the active roster.
Jake Hansen is expected to remain the starter at linebacker while Hummel is unavailable. Azeez Al-Shaair and Aiden Fisher are also expected to continue alongside Hansen in the linebacker group. CBS Sports reported the move, citing Aaron Wilson of KPRC 2 Houston.
