Ali Gaye, a defensive end for the Houston Texans, has suffered a serious knee injury during a joint practice with the Carolina Panthers. An MRI confirmed the injury's severity, which will require a lengthy recovery period and may involve a medical procedure, as reported by KPRC 2’s Aaron Wilson on August 27.
At 27 years old, Gaye stands 6 feet 6 inches tall and weighs 265 pounds. He initially signed with the Texans as an undrafted free agent in 2023 following his time with the Tennessee Titans.
Throughout his career, he has recorded nine tackles and one sack, and he was expected to add depth to the team’s defensive line, particularly behind established players Will Anderson Jr. and Danielle Hunter.
This injury compounds the Texans' challenges, as they already have a growing list of injured players, especially among defensive ends. Gaye is anticipated to be sidelined for the entirety of the 2026 season, raising concerns about the team's defensive edge depth as they strive for Super Bowl contention.
