The Houston Texans have made a trade to acquire wide receiver Kayshon Boutte from the New England Patriots. Boutte announced the transaction on social media prior to any official confirmation from either team. Reports suggest that Houston exchanged safety Jaylen Reed along with a seventh-round draft pick for 2028 in return for Boutte.
This move follows the injury of Texans' wide receiver Jayden Higgins, who tore his ACL during a practice session with the Las Vegas Raiders. Higgins was anticipated to play a significant role alongside standout receiver Nico Collins. Last season, he achieved 41 catches for 525 yards and six touchdowns in his rookie year.
Kayshon Boutte, selected in the sixth round of the 2023 NFL Draft, had a successful previous season, recording 33 receptions for 551 yards and scoring six touchdowns. The Patriots had an abundance of wide receivers after acquiring A.J. Brown in June and signing Romeo Doubs to a four-year contract worth $68 million in March.
Additionally, the Texans recently signed veteran receivers Zay Jones and Sterling Shepard as they seek to address the gap left by Higgins' injury. Plans for the Texans' upcoming season remain unclear.
