The TCU Horned Frogs have added a game against the Northwestern State Demons to their 2028 football schedule. This matchup is scheduled for September 2, 2028, at Amon G. Carter Stadium in Fort Worth, Texas. TCU will pay Northwestern State a guarantee of $600,000 for their participation, as outlined in a contract obtained through public records.
This game will be the second time the two teams meet on the football field, the first being in 2001 when the Demons won 27-24 in overtime. Northwestern State University, located in Natchitoches, Louisiana, plays in the Southland Conference as part of the Football Championship Subdivision (FCS).
Currently, the Demons are under the leadership of head coach Blaine McCorkle and have started their season with losses to Louisiana Christian and Louisiana Tech.
With the addition of Northwestern State, TCU's non-conference schedule for the 2028 season is now complete. TCU will kick off their season at home against Louisiana on August 26 and will travel to Duke on September 9. The Big 12 Conference has not yet released the specific conference opponents for that season, but TCU is anticipated to have five home games and four away games.
Additionally, Northwestern State is set to host Central Arkansas on September 16, 2028.
