George Pickens has moved from the Pittsburgh Steelers to the Dallas Cowboys, with former Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin sharing his perspective on the trade. During an interview on The Rich Eisen Show, Tomlin indicated that the decision was primarily influenced by Pickens' development as a player rather than his abilities on the field.

Tomlin expressed that while Pickens has the talent to excel, there are concerns regarding his growth in various intangible aspects. He mentioned that for the Steelers, it was important to consider not just statistical performance but also the qualities necessary for handling a significant second contract.

ESPN insider Dan Graziano pointed out that there was minimal interest from other franchises in signing Pickens to an offer sheet after the Cowboys placed a non-exclusive franchise tag on him. This situation has led to speculation that teams might be assessing whether Pickens can evolve into a leadership role.

Tomlin noted, "A second contract didn't happen for us with George. But that doesn't necessarily mean that he's not gonna be a spectacular player." This suggests that while the Steelers had doubts about Pickens' readiness for a foundational role, the Cowboys may have a different outlook on his potential.
