North Texas has officially designated Tayven Jackson as the starting quarterback for their season opener against Indiana University, ranked No. 6. This game will take place on September 5 at Memorial Stadium in Bloomington, Indiana.
Jackson, who previously played for Indiana University from 2023 to 2024, is well-acquainted with the Hoosiers. A Greenwood, Indiana native, he had a successful high school career at Center Grove before playing at various colleges. In 2022, he was part of the Tennessee football program, and after two years at IU, he transferred to the University of Central Florida (UCF) for the 2025 season.
At UCF, he recorded a career-high of 2,151 passing yards, achieving 10 touchdowns and 8 interceptions.
Additionally, Jackson's ties to IU are personal; he is the younger brother of former IU basketball player Trayce Jackson-Davis, who plans to attend the game in support of his brother. This matchup will be IU's first game since celebrating their national championship win in January.
