The Dallas Cowboys have brought back quarterback Joe Milton III to their practice squad after he was initially let go to make room for running back Emari Demercado. Milton went unclaimed during the waiver process and chose to return to the Cowboys, despite interest from other teams regarding their practice squads.
Star quarterback Dak Prescott expressed enthusiasm about Milton's return, noting the positive influence he has on the team's quarterback dynamics. Prescott acknowledged Milton's development over the offseason and stressed the importance of helping him cope with the disappointment of losing the QB2 role he held during the 2025 season. Milton was originally selected in the sixth round by the New England Patriots in 2024 and was traded to the Cowboys before the 2025 season. His preseason performance showed marked progress, completing 29 passes out of 43 attempts for 378 yards, with three touchdowns and no interceptions.
This was a notable increase in consistency from the prior season, where he participated in four games, achieving a completion percentage of 62.5 and throwing one touchdown along with two interceptions.
