Jalen Thompson is expected to be unavailable for four or more weeks after hurting his hamstring, according to Cowboys executive vice president Stephen Jones. Jones said Dallas is also looking for another safety after injuries reduced the team’s options at the position.
Thompson’s injury occurred in the Cowboys’ 34-31 defeat against the Ravens in Brazil. Dallas had a chance to tie the game and send it to overtime, but Baltimore connected on a lengthy pass late in the contest and then kicked the winning field goal.
Dallas was 1-2 entering that game. The Cowboys had previously allowed the New York Giants to generate a productive offensive outing in Week 1, followed by late offensive production from Marcus Mariota in Week 2. No specific players or teams were identified as possible safety targets.
The Cowboys are set to visit Houston next Sunday for a 1 p.m. Eastern time game against the Texans, who are 0-3.
