TCU fell to 2-2 after losing 21-13 to Central Florida in Orlando, and the Horned Frogs are 0-2 against Power Four teams. The game was the Big 12 opener for both schools. TCU was flagged 11 times for 86 yards, had two fewer turnovers than UCF and produced 1.2 yards per rushing attempt.
Jaden Craig remains ahead of sophomore Adam Schobel on TCU’s depth chart. Craig, who transferred from Harvard in the offseason, has thrown for 485 yards on 45 completions in 72 attempts against North Carolina and UCF. He has two interceptions and no touchdown passes in those games, along with 10 rushing attempts for minus-38 yards, with sacks included in college football rushing statistics.
Schobel played no snaps as a freshman in 2025 and has one pass this season.
Craig’s compensation could factor into the decision because the report said his agreement with TCU is worth more than Schobel’s. TCU may keep Craig against No. 9 BYU on Oct. 3, though Schobel’s first start could come at Baylor on Oct. 17 after the bye week and two weeks of possible first-team work.
The result ended TCU’s chance to open 4-0 and bring ESPN’s “College GameDay” to Fort Worth. The Horned Frogs are averaging 11.5 points per game. Coach Sonny Dykes previously replaced injured starters Chandler Morris with Max Duggan in 2022 and Josh Hoover in 2023.
