Baylor will have starting quarterback DJ Lagway back against Colorado, but five Bears will miss the matchup at McLane Stadium in Waco. Both teams are 2-1 entering the game. Lagway has been sidelined since Baylor’s Sept. 5 contest with an ankle injury and was cleared by the team’s medical staff after coach Dave Aranda forecast his return earlier in the week.
Nate Bennett will return to his backup position after two starts. He completed 75% of his throws for 567 yards, with six touchdown passes and two interceptions, and added 15 rushing yards and two touchdowns. Baylor also lists Jadon Porter at wide receiver, Devin Turner in the secondary and Hosea Wheeler on the defensive line as available.
Porter and Turner had been probable, while Wheeler improved from questionable later in the week.
Baylor’s unavailable group consists of Jacob Redding, a safety; Jamarion Richardson, a cornerback; Devonte Tezino, a defensive lineman; Cayden Tone, an offensive lineman; and Ashton Jones, a wide receiver. Colorado has ruled out Danny Scudero, Preston Ashley, Colby Johnson, Vili Taufatofua, Demetrius Hunter and Charlie Williams. Scudero and Williams have totaled 94 yards from scrimmage and one touchdown.
Xavier Payne was listed as a game-time decision. The game is set for Saturday, Sept. 26, at 11 a.m. Central on ESPN2, with Lowell Galindo and Kirk Morrison scheduled to call it.
