Every voter in The Colony will choose between Republican Rep. Brandon Gill and Democrat Steven Shook for the U.S. House on Nov. 3. Texas Legislative Council census tables for the 2025 congressional map place the entire city in the 26th District, which is centered on southern and eastern Denton County.
Gill, 32, is seeking a second term after defeating Robert Chick in the March primary. In the Cross Timbers Gazette's candidate guide he pledged to keep "fighting for conservative values." He has President Donald Trump's endorsement.
Shook, 45, beat 2024 nominee Ernest Lineberger for the Democratic nomination. He told the Gazette he would work to bring down what families pay for care and medicine, keep rural hospitals open and back public schools; his campaign site backs a phased move to universal health care.
A nonpartisan directory, Vote-USA, also lists Libertarian Phil Gray. Voters can check their exact ballot at votedenton.gov. Early voting runs Oct. 19 to Oct. 30.
