The City of The Colony announced on June 19 that crews have finished emergency repairs on the eastbound lanes of Memorial Drive. The right lane has been reopened to traffic, while the left lane remains closed. Concrete pouring for the remaining section is scheduled to begin on Monday, weather permitting.

The initial closure began on Wednesday afternoon, June 17, 2026, due to necessary repairs to the stormwater system. The work required the temporary closure of eastbound lanes between Navaho Lane and the railroad bridge. During the closure, eastbound traffic was rerouted to Morning Star Drive.

An update issued on June 18 at 4 p.m. indicated that unexpected site challenges would extend construction and keep the eastbound lane closures in place through the weekend. City officials thanked residents for their patience as crews worked to address these complications.

By the morning of June 19, crews had worked through the night to complete the initial phase of repairs. A city update posted at 8:30 a.m. confirmed the reopening of the right lane and expressed gratitude to the crews for working around the clock to beat the weather.

Residents are assured that there will be no disruption to water or wastewater services, as the repair efforts involve only the stormwater system. Motorists are encouraged to drive safely through the construction zone and seek alternate routes where possible. Additional information regarding the completion of the project will be shared when available.
