Residents interested in running for a seat on The Colony City Council must meet specific residency and voter registration requirements to qualify for the upcoming election. To be eligible, applicants must have been a resident of the city for at least 12 months immediately preceding Election Day and must be a registered voter in Texas.
Additionally, each candidate applying to run for a specific council place must reside within that particular place or district.
The official filing period formally begins on July 20 and continues through 5 p.m. on Aug. 17, 2026. Applications must be filed with the City Secretary prior to the end of this period. Candidates may submit their applications either in person or by mail. The deadline for submission is the close of business on Aug. 17, 2026.
