A fire broke out at the Lewisville High School Killough campus late Tuesday night, prompting a large response from local emergency services. The incident occurred while the facility was undergoing renovation work. Lewisville is located approximately 7 miles west of The Colony.
The Lewisville Fire Department received a dispatch call reporting black smoke emerging from the structure. Upon arrival, responders noted an odor resembling fireworks in the vicinity. Battalion Chief Delane Graham described the building as a large commercial-style structure currently being remodeled. The department dispatched 11 units to the scene to address the blaze.
Firefighters discovered heavy smoke and an active fire on the roof. Crews utilized ladders, ventilation saws, and high-pressure water lines to contain and extinguish the flames. Mutual aid was requested, and firefighters from Flower Mound, Lake Cities, The Colony, and Carrollton arrived to assist Lewisville personnel.
Lewisville Fire Department officials expressed gratitude to the neighboring agencies for their support in backing up local crews. Chief Graham stated that the coordinated effort allowed the teams to efficiently manage and put out the fire.
