The Big 12 Conference is hosting its annual media days at the Dallas Cowboys headquarters in Frisco, Texas. Frisco is located approximately 6 miles northeast of The Colony. The event provides the first official public appearance of Baylor University athletes for the upcoming football season.

Baylor has identified six players who will represent the program during the two-day gathering. The selected athletes include quarterback DJ Lagway, defensive end Kyler Jordan, defensive back Michael Allen, defensive tackle Jamaal Whyce Jr., tight end Matthew Klopfenstein, and linebacker Kyland Reed.

The media days schedule is divided between Tuesday, July 7, and Wednesday, July 8. On Tuesday, representatives from Arizona State, BYU, UCF, Colorado, Houston, Oklahoma State, and Texas Tech will also be present. Wednesday’s schedule features attendees from Arizona, Cincinnati, Iowa State, Kansas, Kansas State, TCU, Utah, and West Virginia.

Attention is focused on Baylor head coach Dave Aranda, who is attending his seventh Big 12 media days. The team did not qualify for a bowl game last season, leading to speculation regarding Aranda’s future with the program. Reports indicate his position is contingent on performance.

Offensive questions center on Lagway, a transfer from Florida who committed to Baylor in January. He replaces Sawyer Robertson at quarterback. Offensive coordinator Jake Spavital enters his third year in the role and aims to sustain the team’s high-ranking offensive output.

Defensive performance is another key topic. While the offense has ranked near the top of the conference, the defense has finished at the bottom. The Bears have appointed Joe Klanderman as the new defensive coordinator. The team hopes to demonstrate improvement when it opens the season on September 5 against Auburn in Atlanta.

Details regarding specific interview times or press conference locations within The Star facility are not yet clear.
