Lewisville Fire Department Contains Roof Blaze at Construction Site

Firefighters responded to a commercial structure fire at a retail building under construction in Lewisville, keeping the blaze confined to the roof.

Lewisville firefighters responded to a commercial structure fire at approximately 10:30 p.m. Tuesday. The department dispatched 11 units to a large retail building currently under construction located in the 1300 block of Summit Avenue. Lewisville is situated approximately 7 miles west of The Colony.

Upon arriving at the scene, personnel discovered smoke conditions affecting most of the building and an active fire spreading across the roof. The Lewisville Fire Department stated that through an aggressive fire attack, they were able to keep the fire contained to the roof area.

The department acknowledged assistance from several neighboring agencies, including the Flower Mound Fire Department, Lake Cities Fire Department, The Colony Fire Department, and Carrollton Fire Department. A volunteer rehab unit also provided support to help keep the firefighters hydrated during the operation.
