Costco Wholesale has announced plans to open 33 new warehouses during fiscal year 2027, according to CEO Ron Vachris. The announcement was made during an earnings call concluding the 2026 fiscal year. Vachris noted that five of these locations are relocations of existing stores, while the company maintains a goal of adding 30 net new warehouses annually.
The expansion includes international growth, with four new stores planned for Europe, five for Canada, and one for Mexico. In the United States, Vachris identified Buffalo, New York, and Lawrence, Kansas, as new markets for the chain. He also cited opportunities for infill locations in established U.S. markets.
Fourteen of the upcoming stores have confirmed locations and opening dates. The Colony, Texas, is among the first group, with an opening scheduled for October 2026. Other locations opening in October include Lee’s Summit, Missouri; Amherst, New York; Lawrence, Kansas; and Camarillo, California.
Stores opening in November 2026 are planned for South Meridian, Idaho; Vallejo, California; Chandler, Arizona; Northeast Edmonton, Alberta; Lloydminster, Alberta; East Windsor, Ontario; Wasaga Beach, Ontario; Newport News, Virginia; and Franklin, Wisconsin.
The company does not disclose locations for openings more than three months in advance. However, local reporting indicates that Costco has been pursuing sites in several other areas. These include Downey, California, which approved a plan earlier this year, as well as Charleston County, South Carolina, and Hillsborough County, Florida.
