Overmyer catches four touchdowns as Houston defeats Kansas State 35-16

Houston strikes through the air

Patrick Overmyer scored four times on touchdown receptions from Conner Weigman, helping visiting Houston build a 35-3 advantage before defeating Kansas State 35-16 on Saturday, Oct. 10, 2026, at Bill Snyder Family Stadium. The Cougars led from the opening period and finished with 35 points, while the Wildcats scored 16.

Overmyer opened the scoring with a 1-yard pass from Weigman in the first quarter, followed by Jonathan Dimas' kick. Kansas State answered with Luis Rodriguez's 29-yard field goal to make it 7-3, but Houston added two touchdowns in the second period. Overmyer caught a 2-yard scoring pass, and Makhi Hughes ran 13 yards for another touchdown, with Dimas converting both kicks.

Houston extends its lead

The Cougars continued the scoring after halftime. Overmyer caught an 8-yard touchdown pass from Weigman in the third quarter, then added a 2-yard touchdown reception later in the period. Dimas made the extra point after each score, and Houston took a 35-9 lead.

Kansas State's third-quarter points came on Garrett Oakley's 13-yard touchdown reception from Avery Johnson. The Wildcats attempted a two-point pass conversion, which failed. In the fourth quarter, Jaron Tibbs caught a 6-yard touchdown pass from Johnson, and Rodriguez added the kick for the final 35-16 margin.

Numbers and records

Weigman completed 19 of 30 passes for 242 yards and four touchdowns for Houston. Overmyer had eight receptions for 83 yards and four touchdowns. Re'Shaun Sanford II carried 20 times for 90 yards.

For Kansas State, Johnson completed 16 of 30 passes for 182 yards, two touchdowns and one interception. Rodney Fields Jr. rushed 14 times for 46 yards, while Oakley made three receptions for 49 yards and one touchdown. Attendance at Bill Snyder Family Stadium was 51,569.

The Cougars moved to 5-1, and the Wildcats fell to 3-2 after the game.
