Deciding Runs Break Deadlock

Miami held a narrow lead early in the contest. Allen singled to right field in the second inning, allowing Diaz to score and putting the Marlins ahead 1-0. Peña answered in the third with a 383-foot home run to left, restoring the tie at 2-2 after Sanoja’s double and Mack’s single in the fourth had evened the score.
The game remained tied at 2-2 until the eighth inning. Alvarez’s home run broke the stalemate, followed by Paredes’ homer. Miami’s scoring came from Diaz’s run in the second and Conine’s run in the fourth. Houston’s runs were credited to Spence in the second, Peña in the third and eighth, and Sanoja in the fourth.
