The Cowboys have chosen the four players they want leading the way, and the decision came from inside the locker room.

Quarterback Dak Prescott, kicker Brandon Aubrey and defensive tackles Quinnen Williams and Kenny Clark were named Dallas' season captains on September 3. Head coach Brian Schottenheimer said the selections were determined by player voting, with those four receiving the highest totals. Cowboys announcement

The group places two captain designations on defense, one on offense and one on special teams. It is a smaller leadership slate than the six captains named in 2025.

Prescott and Aubrey retain the distinction, while Williams and Clark add a notable defensive presence. Their selection is a concrete indication of the standing they have earned among teammates, giving fans something more substantial than offseason praise to assess.

The vote also puts the spotlight on the interior defensive line. With both Williams and Clark among the captains, Dallas will have two designated leaders at the heart of that unit.

The honors are settled. The next measure is how that leadership shows up when the regular season begins.
