Scheels is preparing to welcome the public to its new Cedar Park facility on Saturday, August 29. The employee-owned sporting goods chain describes the site as its 35th store nationwide and its second location in Texas.

The retail space spans more than 300,000 square feet at the Cedarview shopping center. Inside, customers will find over 75 specialty shops alongside several large attractions. These include a 65-foot Ferris wheel, a 16,000-gallon saltwater aquarium, Ginna’s Cafe, and Fuzziwig’s Candy Factory.

The grand opening festivities are scheduled to begin at 7 a.m. in the parking lot at 2150 Cedarview Drive. The morning will feature live music, food trucks, local mascots, drumlines, and various activities for attendees. Prize winners will be selected every 20 minutes between 7 and 9 a.m.

At 9 a.m., a winner will be announced to receive a $1,000 gift card. The schedule continues with skydivers performing, followed by a ribbon-cutting ceremony and opening program at 9:15 a.m. The store is set to officially open its doors to the public at 9:30 a.m.

To support operations at the new location, Scheels reports hiring more than 500 employees for the Cedar Park team.
