The production took place between August 2025 and March 2026, utilizing various locations including Ferris, Boyd, Cleburne, Grandview, Weatherford, Rio Vista, Mineral Wells, Fort Worth, and Dallas, which served as stand-ins for the fictional town of Rio Paloma.
Ferris, located about 18 miles southeast of downtown Dallas, played a significant role in the filming. The picturesque ranch landscapes showcased in the series are primarily from the grasslands and mesquite areas of Parker, Wise, and Johnson counties, rather than the Rio Grande Valley depicted in the storyline.
The series premiered on May 15, 2026, with two episodes and concluded its nine-episode run on July 3. It achieved remarkable viewership, attracting 12.9 million global viewers in its first week, marking it as the biggest original series launch in Paramount+ history. The show has been renewed for a second season, although a premiere date has not yet been announced.
The production benefited from Texas's Moving Image Industry Incentive Program, which supports film and television projects financially based on their spending in the state.
