First Period Dominance
The Dallas Stars established control early in their matchup against the Columbus Blue Jackets, jumping out to a 2-0 lead before any offense could reach the board for the visitors. The scoring began with Mikko Rantanen finding the back of the net first.
His seventh goal of the season came on a snap shot, assisted by Wyatt Johnston and Jason Robertson, giving Dallas an early advantage.
That momentum carried directly into the next scoring play of the period. Thomas Harley recorded his first career goal, also capitalizing on a snap shot. Arttu Hyry provided the first assist of his NHL career, joined by Miro Heiskanen, who added his seventh helper. The two-goal cushion proved significant as the period concluded with Dallas firmly in command.
Columbus Responds Late
The middle frame remained scoreless for both sides, preserving the deficit for the home team and setting the stage for a tense third period. Columbus finally broke through in the final twenty minutes when Damon Severson scored his second goal of the season. The snap shot was assisted by Zach Werenski, who recorded his tenth assist, and Kent Johnson, who added his fifth helper.
This goal brought the Blue Jackets within one, making the final outcome less certain.
