The window to run for The Colony City Council closes at 5 p.m. Monday, Aug. 17, and after that the November ballot is set.
The city holds its general election Nov. 3, with Places 3, 4, 5 and 6 up this year, each carrying a three-year term, according to the city's election notice.
The requirements, per the city:
Applications go to the City Secretary, in person or by mail, before the Monday deadline at City Hall, 6053 Main St. The filing period formally opened July 20, so Monday closes a four-week window.
For a city where four of the council's seats are on one ballot, the filing deadline is the quiet moment that decides how much choice voters actually get in November. By Tuesday, The Colony will know whether its fall election features contested races or walkovers.
